Summer Classes Filling Up!

If you've thought about joining a Hymns Only class, this is the perfect time. Summer classes start in June! Don't be afraid if you've never had any music experience. I break it down and make it easy! And you've already taken piano for years but want to learn the hymns? Choose the accelerated class! I've taught piano for years and I'm so excited about these classes. It's so fun to see people do it for the first time and realize...they can! Come join the fun. You'll be glad that you did!

that he gave me once. It's really pretty amazing to see how the music teaching has passed down through some pretty big wigs (pun intended ;). See how many names you recognize. When I've taught you, you add your name to the list! This reminds me there's a lot to live up to and be grateful for.

New Classes Starting!

I'm starting a new Hymns Only class for beginners! NO prior piano experience required. Check the "Hymns Only" post below for information on class. I teach hymns from an innovative new angle that makes them much more accessible. I also have 2 openings in my accelerated class (for people who have taken 3ish years of piano or more).

I just started these classes in November and it has been so exciting to see it work! I would love to help you learn to play the hymns. Come play with us!

The Studio!

When my awesome handy husband hung the whiteboard for the first time in my own group piano studio I was so giddy! This was a childhood dream come true! :) 4 Clavinovas, a Yamaha keyboard, and here we go! Hoping for 2 more keyboards coming soon...

Hymns Only Classes

Getting ready for a mission? Would you like to be able to play in Seminary? Want to have more of the hymns in your home? These classes are for anyone who wants to learn the hymns! 

Wherever you're at, there's a class for you!

Classes are $60/month. Pick the class that's best for you and contact me to enroll!

Beginning- Learn 10 hymns in a year!

Little to no piano experience? Then this is the class for you! We cover all the basics in a step-by-step approach and we waste no time: starting right in the hymnbook from day 1! I make the hymns approachable and give you the reading and tactile skills you need to master them. By the end you'll have 10 commonly-sung hymns in your arsenal and because we systematically review, you should be able to play any of them at the drop of a hat! 

Accelerated- Learn 25-30 hymns in a year!

If you have roughly 3 years of piano experience (you've taken the beginning class or you've had lessons and can read music well), then this is the class for you! We focus on 30 commonly sung hymns so you can put them right to use at seminary, at church or at home. We start with the easier and move to more difficult (see my ratings in the "Hymns Rated Easy to Hard" post). You'll play in class every week so playing in front of people becomes no big deal! We review basics at the beginning and then progress step-by-step. You'll even learn how to conduct!

Advanced- Be able to play any hymn and make arrangements!

If you can play hymns and want to become proficient, this is the class for you. This class gives you the practice you need to be able to play any hymn. You'll learn the music theory in the hymns and start using it to improvise and write your own hymn arrangements.

Things you NEED

1- A piano or keyboard you can practice on EVERY day

2- 20-30 minutes of time you can commit to practicing daily

3- A hymn book

GROUP PIANO CLASSES!!!

Beginning Piano Techniques 

is a group class for beginning teens and adults. The group setting makes learning piano more fun and motivating! This is the same class offered at BYU to undergrads wanting to start learning piano, written by former piano professor Richard Anderson. It is intended for people with little to no piano experience. I took a class on teaching this class while at BYU pursuing my degree in Piano Performance. The book can be purchased on Amazon.com for roughly $40-$50 depending on when you buy. Classes are $60/month. Contact me to sign up for lessons!
