Hymns Only Classes

Getting ready for a mission? Would you like to be able to play in Seminary? Want to have more of the hymns in your home? These classes are for anyone who wants to learn the hymns! 

Wherever you're at, there's a class for you!

Classes are $60/month. Pick the class that's best for you and contact me to enroll!

Beginning- Learn 10 hymns in a year!

Little to no piano experience? Then this is the class for you! We cover all the basics in a step-by-step approach and we waste no time: starting right in the hymnbook from day 1! I make the hymns approachable and give you the reading and tactile skills you need to master them. By the end you'll have 10 commonly-sung hymns in your arsenal and because we systematically review, you should be able to play any of them at the drop of a hat! 

Accelerated- Learn 25-30 hymns in a year!

If you have roughly 3 years of piano experience (you've taken the beginning class or you've had lessons and can read music well), then this is the class for you! We focus on 30 commonly sung hymns so you can put them right to use at seminary, at church or at home. We start with the easier and move to more difficult (see my ratings in the "Hymns Rated Easy to Hard" post). You'll play in class every week so playing in front of people becomes no big deal! We review basics at the beginning and then progress step-by-step. You'll even learn how to conduct!

Advanced- Be able to play any hymn and make arrangements!

If you can play hymns and want to become proficient, this is the class for you. This class gives you the practice you need to be able to play any hymn. You'll learn the music theory in the hymns and start using it to improvise and write your own hymn arrangements.

Things you NEED

1- A piano or keyboard you can practice on EVERY day

2- 20-30 minutes of time you can commit to practicing daily

3- A hymn book

GROUP PIANO CLASSES!!!

Beginning Piano Techniques 

is a group class for beginning teens and adults. The group setting makes learning piano more fun and motivating! This is the same class offered at BYU to undergrads wanting to start learning piano, written by former piano professor Richard Anderson. It is intended for people with little to no piano experience. I took a class on teaching this class while at BYU pursuing my degree in Piano Performance. The book can be purchased on Amazon.com for roughly $40-$50 depending on when you buy.
